What Causes Weird Sensations In Head Along With Pressure In Neck?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: Hi, I have been feeling kind of off today. My head feels weird sometimes, almost like there is pressure on the back of my neck and head. I can not concentrate too well on reading. I feel nauseous sometimes. I have moments where it feels like I can not breathe well and like my throat is swollen. I have a pinched nerve in my lower back, and am not sure if that could have anything to do with it. I also drank alcohol last night. I just do not feel right.

Brief Answer:
Most likely sore throat and swollen lymph node on neck

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.

I have gone through your query. Your problem is most likely throat infection and may be associated lymph node swelling.
Light headedness or pressure in head common after drinking alcohol.

In such case you should get proper rest. Take warm chicken soup with pepper. Drink Tea with lemon. Vitamin C also is helpful. Giving hot towel fomentation on neck will be helpful.

If severe discomfort and pain is there then if you were my patient I will give acetaminophen or Nimusulide.
I also suggest you proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole once a day 30 minutes before food for nausea. Take it for one week.
If condition persist longer then antibiotics will be required. In such case you should approach your GP for that. I usually advise antibiotics like azithromycin in such situation in my patient.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

My tongue is swollen, I think, and my mouth has been dry. I also have become more nauseous. I feel like I cannot breathe very well. I am nervous to go to sleep but am tired. The pressure I am feeling in my head is something that I have felt before. Having my body feel strange is not something new to me. I am just not sure what to do.

Brief Answer:
Angioedema should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for your follow up query.

As you having a tongue swelling and breathing trouble angioedema should be ruled out. It is an allergic reaction. In such case corticosteroid like hydrocortisone injection and antihistamine will make you better. It is better to approach ER for this.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
