Posted on Wed, 28 May 2014
Question: Am away from home on business.
Started throwing up 2 days ago. Have kept down minimal food (2 bananas) and a little ginger ale over past 2 days, nothing else.

Still feel nauseous and sick and weak.taking deep breaths.

Blood pressure (using wrist monitor) is 110/72. Heart rate 62. No apparent fever (dont have thermometer though..using back of hand).respirations around 15

Should i stay in the hotel room and try sleep it out, or go to a hospital?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Go to a hospital.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to health care magic forum.
I am Dr Aslam here to help you.
As it is there for 2 days without improvement, there must be some underlying cause. We have to find it out and treat-then only it will come down.
When I see patients with such symptoms in my clinic,I consider diagnoses like acid peptic disease, urinary tract infection(may present with nausea only) etc.

Acid peptic disease can usually be identified by an abdominal examination, and treated with antacids, acid lowering agents and anti-emetics for a few days.

UTI can be identified by urine routine examination/culture,and supported by abdominal examination. It needs antibiotics,anti-spasmodics and anti emetics for a few days.
Your doctor will guide you in this.
Meanwhile,I can guide you better if you give the following details.
1)Had you acid peptic disease/gastritis in the past?
2)Are you having any abdominal pain now? If,is it more towards upper abdomen/lower abdomen?
3)Do you have increased frequency of urination/burning sensation or any discomfort on urination?
4)Are you having history of any urinary/renal stones in the past?
5)Do you have any medical illness/regular drugs?

Thank you.
