What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Mouth And Rapid Heart Rate?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Dec 2016
Question: I've been having a weird tingle feeling in my mouth at times-it reminds me of the one time I had an allergic reaction-but without the severity. My forehead, top of my head area-feels like my brain is on fire and tingles sometimes. On occasion my heart seems to beat at a rapid rate. This is usually at night for some reason, or later in the day. And I noticed on a rare occasion one of my eye lids will stick. Not sure if this is all related or not or what I'm looking at?

Brief Answer:
Low dose benzodiazepines can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your concern. You are taking Quetiapine, Lamotrigine and Vyvanse for years. Are you still taking these medicines? Because Vyvanse, Lamotrigine both are known to cause weird feeling in head and face.

The symptoms like weird tingling feeling in mouth, tingling and feeling as if forehead is on fire, rapid heart rate etc could occur due to a number of reasons. Medical causes like Vitamin B12 deficiency, altered thyroid hormone levels especially in hyperthyroidism etc are possibilities. Please get your thyroid hormone levels and B12 levels done to rule out these medical causes.

Other possibility is anxiety. You are already on psychoactive medicines and possibility of anxiety is also there. Rapid heart beat, weird sensation in mouth, forehead etc can be symptoms of anxiety.

Low dose benzodiazepines like Clonazepam or Lorazepam can help to reduce the symptoms. You can talk with your doctor for the drugs.

Thanks, Take care
