What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Face When Under Stress?

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Aug 2016
Question: I had a very stressful period in my life during which my face started tingling as well as my leg. The tingling has reduced significantly but is still there once in a while when I stress. Is this anxiety? Could I have MS? Also my vitamin D level is 20NG/ML
Also, I get stressed very easily and always have a sense of impending doom as well.

Hello, and thanks for your question.

What you are describing is consistent with anxiety and/or panic attacks. This is not MS, nor is it related to your Vitamin D level. I recommend seeking treatment from a psychiatrist, with an antidepressant medication such as Lexapro or Zoloft, which treats anxiety very well.

Thank you for the above. Should I worry at all about MS? The only symptom I have that could signal MS is the numbness and tingling on my face and legs at times. Otherwise, I feel that I do have anxiety as I throw up frequently due to stress and my legs feel week in a stressful situation. I don't have any vision problems other than dry eye and am able to work out without issues after working 16 hour days.

Detailed Answer:
As I said above, this is not MS. Anxiety often causes numbness and tingling on the face and legs. This is clearly the problem, so I would address this concerns with a psychiatrist for further treatment.
