What Causes Tingling Sensation In Hands After Having Cyclobenzaprine?

default
Posted on Fri, 31 Oct 2014
Question: Hello, I was prescribed Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) for pelvic floor dysfunction (tight pelvic muscles). I've been experiencing tingling/nerve pain in my hands since taking this medicine. I have only taken two doses. I have suffered from carpal tunnel in the past but had corrective surgery. Even when I did experience symptoms, I never experienced like this, which makes me think it may be this recent medication. I don't take any another medicines and am otherwise healthy. I am a 31 year old female. I am looking for any input. I see the tingling listed as a rare side effect. I'm hoping this isn't permanent. I'm going to make an appointment with either a neurologist and/or orthopedic doctor but was wondering if anyone had any input. This appeared rather suddenly, about a day and a half after taken the first dose, with no prior tingling at all. Thanks for your time.

Brief Answer:
There exists a possibilty.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that I agree with what you are saying . Its true that it is a very rare side effect but since it started after taking the medicine , I think we should omit the drug which will help in stabilisation .

Generally , if its due to any drug when you withdraw the offending drug the symptoms settle down fast . I would advise you to wait for 2-3 days . If the symptoms still persist you can consult a dovctor to rule out for additional causes .

But it should settle down as it seems.

Take care.
