default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: My hand is swelling, blue in swollen area, achy and fingers are kind of tingly on left hand. The area also feels more firm right now then it usually does when it swells. Had 2 MRI's done recently (one with contrast, one without) came back normal according to hand specialist I saw... but something clearly wrong. Im kinda nervous right now, should i be concerned?

Brief Answer:
You are likely to be having allergic reaction.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and the images, and understand your concern. As your MRI report is normal, it excludes tumour and infection and other space occupying lesion. This may be allergic reaction to some substance or cold. You will be benefited by using cetrizine and analgesic such as ibuprofen as these reduces pain and swelling. You need further investigation by thyroid function test and rheumatoid factor test to rule out thyroid disease and rheumatoid arthritis.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
