What Causes Temporary Vision Distortion?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Oct 2014
Question: I'm a 68 year old male. 173 pounds, 6'1". I hit the gym 5 days a week. I play racquetball and I am part of a weekly rowing crew (8 man). I take Synthroid (last 8 months) and Lipator (2 years). Last year I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro.
While walking, I had a 10 second spasm and my vision was distorted. The world in front of me look like a mismatched jigsaw puzzle. I never lost consciousness, nor did I feel sick. I was momentarily confused. I sat down, rested and minutes later felt fine. This happened seven days ago and has not recurred. Paramedics came by and said my vitals were normal. What's up?

Brief Answer:
Investigations required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, XXXX.
Thanks for asking HCM.
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
It is nice to know about your achievements and your routine, they defiantly tell the tale about your good physicals.
You have not given any history but as you are taking synthroid I take it as you have hypothyroidism and may be dyslipidemia as you are taking Lipitor.
Considering all the facts, figures and your symptoms you should go for a routine check up of all organs of your body, specially the cardiac check up.
This will give you fair idea if the episode of 10 seconds happened to you the other day was related to any of your system or not.
Though even hypoglycemic attacks are similar but we should not take any chances.
Best wishes.
