What Causes Swollen Inflamed Skin On Penis?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Apr 2015
Question: When I woke up this morning the loose skin on my penis just below the head was swollen. It is the area where the circumcision was performed. I have no foreskin. It isn't itching, it is a little tender but not uncomfortable. The rest of my penis seems fine. There does seem to be a little heat in it, but not a lot. Could this be a yeast infection, or some type of allergy. Again, it is not itching not crusty looking, no discharge.

Brief Answer:
A picture of affected area...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

1. Can you please provide a photo of the swollen skin on your penis? It will help me give a more precise answer.

2. The swelling usually is indicative for possible inflammation due to:
- allergic reaction to any new detergent started recently
- yeast infection although no itching

I advise to:
- keep a good local hygiene
- avoid using perfumed soap or detergent
- keep using jock cream for a few more days.

If no improvement, please consult further with dermatologist.

Hope it was of help!

Thanks Dr. Albana,

I uploaded a pic of my penis (embarrassing). As you can see right below the glans one side is more swollen than the other. This area is never that prominent. The white residue on the shaft is hydrocortisone cream. No, discharge, itching, scales, nothing like that. No really discomfort other than a little soreness. If you see anything that needs to be address please let me know.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Trauma/allergy as following...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for providing the photo.

I noted the swollen and inflammed part. There are 2 things I can think over:
1. trauma: hard sex, rubbing, or any other possible accident
2. allergic reaction to detergent. Claritin you are taking orally will help reduce inflammation is due to allergy along with hydrocortisone cream locally

I advise to avoid sex, keep a good local hygiene and continue with hydrocortisone cream for a few more days and see changes.

Hope it helped!
