What Causes Swollen Gums While Having Stress?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jan 2017
Question: I have quite a lot of stress in my life but can usually deal with it. Over the last few weeks however, I have woken up with sensitive teeth and swollen gums making me think I may be grinding. I have been quick to rage many times usually over small sounds such as the computer humming or someone creaking on a chair or asking me a question, or even sounds from a phone keypad. Today it was the sound of my tiny dogs feet on the floor and then I went to seek quiet in the bedroom and the toilet in the ensuite was running. 2 hours later I am calmer but can still feel my heart pumping hard (92bpm) and pulsing in my fingertips. My ears are ringing and they feel almost irritated on the inside. Is this something I should seek medical attention about or just try to relax?

Brief Answer:
It seems anxiety disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

If the mentioned symptoms are there for more than six months the criteria for generalised anxiety disorder can be applied. I mean to say that the symptoms are indicative of GAD which often needs to be treated either with medication or psychotherapy.

You need to consult either a psychologist or psychiatrist without delay as untreated illness leads to permanent changes in brain and often needs longer treatment.

I hope this answers you.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for my future patients.
