Question: I woke up this morning and my left eye lid is swollen. I do not remember hitting my eye on anything and and there does not appear to be any sign of a bite.

Hi,
Thanks for asking your query on this forum.
Have seen the photo attached most likely its stye.
A stye is a painful lump near the edge of your eyelid that may look like a boil or a pimple. Styes are often filled with pus. A sty usually forms on the outside of your eyelid. But sometimes it can form on the inner part of your eyelid.

It can be due to infection.
Treatment-
Wash the area 3 times a day with cold water.
Apply ointment tobramycin twice daily.
Anti-inflammatory like aceclofenac can be taken to subside inflammation.
Anti-allergic like Allegra can be taken.
Short term antibiotic therapy can also be considered for 3 days.
