What Causes Swelling In Right Groin Area?

default
Posted on Tue, 18 Aug 2015
Question: I have an area in the groin that isn't really swollen but looks it, if that makes sense.

It feels the same as the other side (smooth no bumps), and goes along the line of where my thigh meets my leg but looks more pronounced. I recently got back into pole fitness and my friend said she thinks it a muscle or tendon. I know what a swollen lymph node feels like (at least in my neck) and this doesn't feel like it...doesn't feel like anything but I can sorta see it in the mirror

it is in a diagonal line with my hip bone and there is a similar area on the other side but more pronounced on right side. I am right handed. Had blood work three weeks ago and all normal. wondering if this could really be an abductor muscle or something?

am a bit wigged out...

Brief Answer:
Likely to be a muscular hypertrophy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The more prominent area in the right groin with no palpable lumps or nodes and no pain or other symptoms is likely to be due to a muscle prominence. This can happen due to a greater muscle hypertrophy on that side. It is a not a worrisome finding.
In case the swelling increases or becomes painful then do consult your physician for a physical examination to find out the cause.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
A normal variation.

Detailed Answer:
Yes it is a closer view. But it is just a mild muscular prominence. No need to worry.
