What Causes Swelling In Neck After Heart Surgery?
Question: My husband has a protruding swelling at base of neck under adam's apple. It is firm and wraps around front of neck. He has recently been treated for heart failure and had surgery 10 days ago to receive a pacemaker/fibulator(?). Could this be his thryroid?

What was the thyroid status in pre-operative period?
If it is evaluated can update thyroid profile report in preop period ?
Update more information and complaints in pre-operative period?
Update more about lipid profiles and other blood tests if any with
you.
Update -if any USG /CT- neck/ or FNAC thyroid/ or thyroid-biopsy- is done in pre-operative period
Prima Facie-Opinion-about the neck swelling-
Based on facts of the query, you seem to have this neck lump mostly from the surgical stress, as you noticed just yesterday. In view of this fact, my opinion is that, because of the surgical and heart failure body stress, the thyroid which was not swollen earlier to surgery and heart failure, the neck swelling has come up lately yesterday- almost on 10 th day after surgery.
