Question: Son is paraplegic had high fever 103.7 in doctor's office, severe headache and some nausea yesterday. GP had no answer, prescribed tamiflu and bactrim for uti and aspirin/advil for fever. Late last night and this morning very swollen left foot and red color moving up to near top of calf. Fever under control.

If no internal medicine MD available, please submit my question to whatever specialist you recommend. Thanks.

The swelling and redness of the foot is indicative of either cellulitis due to a bacterial infection or a clot in the leg.
It is important that a correct diagnosis is made.
It would be good if you can see a doctor, have his leg examined and he would require blood tests like a complete blood count and D-dimer.
The doctor may also request an ultrasound examination of the leg if he suspects a venous thrombosis.
