What Causes Swelling And Burning Sensation In The Vaginal Area?

Question: Last January 2016 at an ER visit I was ask for a urine sample. While in the restroom retrieving it I discovered something hanging out my vaginal area. There was some type test done at my bed (MRI or similar but not an xray) and responded that nothing missing-LOL I had never had anything EXTRA hanging out. Upon physical exam by ER Dr. she thought it may be bladder or womb. I was visiting an extended visit and didn't see my regular doctor until April 2016. She did not physically look at this new "OUTIE" that I had but agreed that it may be what the ER doctor had proposed. Here I am 15 months later waiting for my G P to get me with OB/GYN for a "pessaries" install when last week something "burst, pops, explodes" releasing lots of very acidic fluid that actually burns vaginal area and inside leg area. Didnt want to go to ER so contacted G P and didnt hear back from her quick enough so I left message that I would handle myself. I do not use a regular OB/GYN but use my G.P. Whatever has been hanging out these several months (hard, healthy pink, never changed size, about the shape of an egg but half the size, but did add a small reddish/black spot a few months ago that I did show to doctor) did not seem to be the organ that burst but waa in front of it. Now several days later that organ is turning whiteish and increasing and decreasing in size. I am searching in earnest for the doctor I need but am in very limited area of specialist and single with no family near and no public transport. 30 mins to any town! Should I be going to ER to be seen and then sent to specialist to be seen soon after? Not my idea of good plan

Brief Answer:
Can be a Bartholin's cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The swelling hanging out of the vaginal area can be a Bartholin's cyst. t is formed when a Bartholin's gland is blocked, causing a fluid-filled cyst to develop. Bartholin's cyst is not an infection, although it can be caused by an infection, inflammation, or physical blockage (mucus or other impediment) to the Bartholin's ducts (tubes which lead from the glands to the vulva).

If infection sets in, the result is a Bartholin's abscess. If the infection is severe or repeated a surgical procedure known as marsupialization may be required to stop further recurrences.

Now that t has burst open you need antibiotics to prevent infection and n case t swells again then you need to consult an OB-GYN for surgical treatment.
