What Causes Sudden Gain Of Weight Post Appetite Suppressant Withdrawal?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Mar 2015
Question: I have used topamax and phentermine in combination for weight loss in the past with really good success, through a weight loss physician. I have recently gained ALOT of weight, about 30 lbs in the course of the last six months. I seem to not be able to keep my caloric intake low enough to maintain my body weight at a normal level without some kind of appetite suppressant. I have purchased and tried a combination of holistic versions but they are not giving me the boost long enough that I need to get back into my clothes I want to take Qsymia for a three to five month course of treatment to re- lose this gain, and then transition to the holistic aids. In the meantime, I have insomnia to a degree that I have almost zero quality of life. I only sleep for about three hours at a time and then have to take naps regularly not to go totally crazy with misery and fatigue. I have tried every holistic thing I can afford for this too, and every possible strategy for optimal sleep hygiene.
How do I get my doctor to let me have a prescription for Qsymia and Ambient?

Brief Answer:
Consult your treating doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

The rebound eight gain is due to the fact that you have used appetite suppressants in the past. This is known to happen in most who stop the medication whether cold turkey or tapering.

Qsymia (Phentermine and Topiramate) and Ambien (Zolpidem Tartrate) both are addiction inducing schedule IV drugs. These need hand written prescriptions. You may have to consult your treating doctor for the same. You can ask for the same to him /her. This time take care you stop it in a tapering manner.

Hope, I was helpful.

Please do ask if any doubts.

Wish you good health.

Regards,
