Detailed Answer:
The safest supplements to use are natural foods. Retail supplements designed to help you lose weight are fraught with safety issues and quality control problems.

Starting with a reduced calorie diet and consistent exercise program, one may add green tea taken clear about 4 times per day before meals. This does not speed up metabolism but rather works with the prevention of the deposit of fat and the fat hormone adiponectin. Caution if there's history of stones.

Recent studies are showing positive effects of the herbal berberine first on blood sugar reduction and now on weight loss.

Using spicy foods such as cayenne pepper will tend to increase the metabolism as will eating lean protein in the am and cutting down on carbohydrates ( unless you are engaging in vigorous exercise programs.)

Soluble fiber such as found in oats, fresh fruit, will decrease appetite. Lycopene, a nutrient, has shown up in studies recently as decreasing appetite.

Speaking of prescription, there are several weight loss pills that could be used short-term but stay away from the retail weight loss pills unless you have a dietitian along to help with the labels. Belviq, Qsymia, Contrave are the medication you can discuss with your doctor.

Most doctors before prescribing a weight loss pill will want to see that you have tried lifestyle change through adopting a healthy high fiber, low-fat diet adequate in nutrients and are exercising regularly.

I hope I have given you some reasonable suggestions. Oh, and sugar will increase your appetite so if you could get rid of added sugars and high fructose corn syrup in your diet that may assist as well.

Feel free to write back if you have other questions. Have a great day!
