Brief Answer:
Possible neurogenic claudication

Detailed Answer:
Good evening. My name is Dr. Saghafi and I am an adult neurologist from XXXXXXX Ohio. Your symptoms of sudden weakness in your thighs coupled with pain which lasts a few minutes before fading back to normal are entirely consistent with something known as CLAUDICATION.

This often occurs when nerve roots or blood vessels are compromised by compression in the lower back which results in sudden muscle weakness and pain.

I would recommend seeing a neurologist or vascular specialist who can order the appropriate imaging studies of the lower back and/or electrical studies of the nerves responsible for innervating the thighs and seeing if either physical therapy or some other intervention may be useful.

Therefore, your doctor will take a good history from you to find out more details of the condition to determine whether or not your condition is due to nerves or blood vessels being squeezed or compromised.

Treatment will depend entirely on whether or not the source of the problem is neurogenic vs. vascular.

I hope this answer satisfactorily addresses your interesting question. If so, may I ask your favor of a HIGH STAR RATING with some written feedback.

Also, if there are no other questions or comments, can I ask that you CLOSE THE QUERY on your end so this question can be transacted and archived for further reference by colleagues as necessary?

Please direct more comments and questions to me in the future at:

Please keep me informed as to the outcome of your situation.
All the best.
