What Causes Stomach Discomfort And Vomiting After Having Food In A Restaurant?

Question: Sunday, March 22, 2015

This past Tuesday, I ate food at a restaurant that I normally don't visit. The next morning at approximately 2:00 am, I started to experience extremely stomach discomfort. Within minutes I started to violently vomit without blood for what seemed like 15-20 minutes. Diarrhea was the follow-up. I continued to vomit until Wednesday afternoon. Today is Sunday, and I am no longer vomiting, but the watery diarrhea continues. Worried, I went to have my blood pressure checked and the reading was 110/68, a lower systolic than ever before. I am 70 years of age, on 7 MG of prednisone every other day, 40 MG of metformin 2x daily, and lisinopril taken 1x daily. I try to drink a sufficient intake of water with pedialyte to keep my fluid levels normal. Hopefully, you can provide some answers to address my concerns.

Incidentally, my wife ate at the same restaurant and is experiencing the same symptoms. The difference is she is not on any medication. Thank you.

Dear sir, you are having GUT infection. You are doing alright regarding fluid and electrolye replacement. You need to continue the same

Please keep an eye on BP you may record at home also.

Take Tab. Rabeprazole one in the morning half an hour before breakfast.
Take Tab. Norfloxacin + tinidazole. Two times after food for 5 days with plenty of fluids, juices may be with a pinch of salt.
Avoid spicy or fried food stuff.

You will be alright in a day or two but complete the course of antibiotics for five days.
