What Causes Stabbing Pain Near Groin Area While Sitting?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Question: I have been having a stabbing pain near my right groin for some time now. It is usually when I am sitting XXXXXXX style or pull my knees very close to my chest. Other than that I rarely feel it. I saw the doctor and he says I have no flexibility whatsoever and it is part of why my hip and groin area hurt, plus I have a bad ankle that rolls and sprains a lot on that side, and that is why that area bothers me. I just want to make sure someone else concurs, because he was not the nicest man. I am just worried about something ovarian or something bone.

Brief Answer:
The pain is likely to be occurring due to adductor spasm

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Let me assure you that the problem you have described, is due to muscle spasm and not due to some bone cause or ovarian cancer or something. Such muscle spasms can frequently occur if the muscles have not been exercised properly and hence do not have adequate flexibility and contractility. The pain in the groin is more likely to be due to the spasm of adductor muscles of the thigh, muscles that originate from near the groin.

You need to apply hot compress. You can consult a physical therapist and familiarize yourself with exercises that you should do in order to resolve your complaints.
