What Causes Spotting During 5 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
Question: Hello. I am 5 weeks pregnant. I saw some very very light red spotting in my underwear today but I think it was following a bowel movement (the BM was slightly painful and when I wiped it was slightly red), when I wiped vaginally, it was clear and I did not see any blood. I also have been having mild cramping. Just wanted to get some more info on this?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Spotting after bowel movement with blood on wiping anal area and clean on vaginal area with painful bowel movements indicate a bowel issue like anal fissure or hemorrhoid etc. But as the status is doubtful you should get evaluated immediately to rule out any threatened abortion as cramping and abdominal pain also occurs in that.
Nut shell get an ObGyn first and let them make sure it is not an abortion. Once clear from that angle next step would be to assess the anal area for any pathology like fissures, tags or haemorrhoids etc. Meanwhile take some antispasmodics like phloroglucinols etc for the cramps relief. Drink plenty of fluids and take more fiber in the food.
