Brief answer....not to be worried, although a cause of concern.
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Splitting of nails is common as you age but to get them in young age, like you,is almost always due to dietary insufficiencies or excessive use of nail polish or doing such activities which require extended period of time where your hands are soaked in water.
Sometimes it could be due to medical  conditions like hypothyroidism also.
The common dietary insufficiency causes are..
Lack of protein,calcium,iron,VIT C,VIT D,zinc,FOLIC acid etc.
You should get yourself tested for above mentioned causes and take appropriate measures by eating healthy and taking supplements.
Other measure which is important is moisturising your nails daily by either olive oil or some good moisturising creams. Before going to bed, soak your hands in water for 5 minutes and then apply moisturising creams after drying your nails.
Use gloves while doing work in water.
Almonds have special fatty acids which are very good for nails.Make sure to eat 10-12 almonds every day.
I can assure you that you shall be all right completely but it may take few months.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
