Question: Hi! My kids were diagnosed with bronchitis and given pulmicort aerolin, azithromicin but for the past 2 days my husband wakes up feeling as if his getting somthing and his throat hurts. Should he start taking azythromicin and a medro pack(prednozole) too before it develops fully since we are all leaving on a cruise in 5 days? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Azithromycin is not needed regularly as its an antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. Bronchitis is an allergic disorder and will not spread to your husband from your kids if he never had it in past.
It seems to be a sore throat leading to discomfort. You may start an antihistaminic such as fexofenadine or chlopheniramine along with warm saline gargles at present. There is no need for azithromycin if bacterial infection is not suspected. Bacterial infections are more severe and associated with fever spikes, redness and pus points on throat examination. Prednisolone will also not be useful if no severe chest congestion is present.
Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care

Thank you for your response! I though the md prescribed the neubilizer meds because he heared weezing, post a cold that didnt go away on its own.
Just for my understanding, even when you hear a cough with phelm is considered an allergic reaction and not a walking pneumonia?

Brief Answer:
Any diagnosis needs a proper clinical evaluation and investigations

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Such diagnosis needs a proper history, clinical evaluation and investigations as per requirement. Allergic reactions are usually recurrent and flare up on seasonal changes. Pneumonia are infections of lungs which needs chest radiography if suspected.
Cough with phlegm can occur in most of the upper and lower respiratory tract infections or allergies but the type can help in reaching definitive diagnosis.
