Question: hello doc, I recently went thru a health check up. my major concern is my Esophilis count is 24 as against the normal range of 0 to 6. And my LDL cholesterol is 264, Though im very lean with BMI of 18. I had sinus surgery in past and continue to have regular cold, sore throat or eye or skin alleries on and off. And I also have frequent gastric problem. My doc has suggested Novamax LB 500mg, Metrogyl 400 mg, Hetrazan 100mg and Pan 40mg. Do you think this will help to reduce my Esophilis count. please advise

Brief Answer:
I will agree to continue these medications.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Raised eosinophil count (24) might be indicative of some allergy (like some skin allergy, coughing or sneezing or cold).

Or it may also be due to some parasitic infestations which can also lead to raised eosinophils.

Here,in case of your,it could be due to cold (allergic) because of which you have received slightly elevated eosinophil count but there is no need to be worried as it is not the serious problem.

Since you are also having some gastric issues,so I will agree to continue Novamax 500,metrogyl 400,Hetrazan and Pan 40 mg as directed by your doctor. This medications may be helpful to reduce your eosinophils counts as well as your gastric symptoms.

Also, your raised eosinophils and frequent sinus issues are likely because of allergy and the best way to cure allergy is to avoid contact with the allergen,so you can make out which particular substance is causing it and try avoid contact of it.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra
