Question: I was attacked unexpectedly and the guy hit me in the throat. It's been a week now and it still hurts to swallow. No hoarseness in my voice, just sore throat. Should I go to a doctor?

Brief Answer:
Not virus but bacteria

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your follow up query; and most probably you may be suffering from the bacterial infection not the viral.

For your kind information pharyngitis have no effect on breathe and voice but they may be effected in laryngitis.

According to my best of knowledge in this condition I personally suggest you proper antibiotic course and antiseptic gargles.

Ok, but this is from a blunt trauma. How does bacteria get involved? Im worried i have cracked cartilage in the throat. Could that be possible?

Brief Answer:
Not cracked cartilage but may be the trauma to mucosa of throat

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your follow up query; and most probably blunt trauma may causes injury to the mucosa of throat but not to the cartilage.

For your kind information bacteria may get involved only by the mild erosion to the mucosa of the throat.
