Question: My hearing in left ear sound Like robots and i had this last month it went after a week and now its back. I have visit a doctor the first time i told it after i clean ear wax out with hydrogen peroxide (3%). He said it just your ear re adjusting, but i didn't really believe him so i went a audiogoist and to a standard hear test and she my hearing was fine . But i still have the distorted hearing she suggested it could be sinus congestion so she suggested over the counter nasal spay and nasal dicongestion. To treat it i only use the nasal spary after six days it did went away. But after three weeks of this month. Today i have the distorted hearing again and i didn't even clean my ears yet.

Brief Answer:
Problem relates to middle ear.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query. I think I can precisely explain what is going on. Our ear has three parts: The external ear (upto the eardrum), the middle ear (having connection to the inner throat via Eustachian tube on each side) and the inner ear (containing the cochlea, the organ of hearing). It seems that you have caught a cold. This has led to thickening of the mucus, thus blocking the Eustacian tube(s) which normalize the air pressure outside (in the throat) and middle ear. The blockage is leading to pressure differences in the middle ear which is responsible for the difference in hearing that you are complaining of.

Attempts to remove ear wax would not help. Rather, you need to take steam inhalation (through mouth and nose). The water in form of vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the mucus and would thus provide relief. You can use the nasal spray but do not use it for more than a week.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards

Brief Answer:
It is still worthwhile to try the steam inhalation.

Detailed Answer:
I understand. I would still insist you to try out my suggestion of steam inhalation and see if it helps. After all, you have nothing to lose.

Let me know how the situation improves after a week and I would guide you further.
