What Causes Sharp Pain In Scrotum While Urinating?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jul 2015
Question: Hi,

About a week ago I passed some blood after the urine only once. I drank cranberry juice since and no blood. But since yesterday, I am feeling slight pain just below the scrotum when I squeeze to make sure the last drops of urine are out to avoid later dribbling.
I take flowmax tablet daily as prescribed for slightly enlarged prostrate for the last 2 years. My PSA test last year was normal. I am due to for a medical this year in July. Should I be worried about this XXXXXXX pain and go to my doctor now or should I wait for the July medical check up. Please advise. Thanks.......RA

Brief Answer:
Does not appear to be prostate related.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Does not appear to be a prostate problem.
2. If it were to be prostate problem, urinary obstruction symptoms would be more.
3. If the pain persists for another two days, or any fever starts or if there is burning sensation during urination, then urine microscopy examination will be essential.
4. If pain disappears and there are no other symptoms, not to worry, can wait for you July medical checkup.
5. Along with cranberry and pomegranate juice and flowmax, also take plenty of water (atleast 6-8 liters of water per day). Increase protein in diet, to improve immunity.

Hope it helps.
