Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: I have had some severe muscle pain in my upper left arm at times and now have had knuckle joint pain for the past month or so, and more recently having lower back discomfort and aching ankles. Does this sound like I am getting arthritis? I am 63 years old.

Brief Answer:
It could be arthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

Seems you are suffering from multiple joint pain - Polyarthritis .

I would suggest you to get yourself examined by an Orthopaedician for multiple joint pains . You would be asked to undergo few blood tests like Hb, RBS, TLC, DLC, ESR, RA factor, CRP and Thyroid profile along with routine urine examination. These investigations will help us find out the exact cause. Discuss with your doctor.

Till then for symptomatic relief, you can take over the counter analgesics, do hot fomentation and apply local analgesic gel on the affected areas.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
