Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Treating the throat pain depends on the cause:

If you also have a fever and swollen neck glands, it could be strep, and for that you need a throat swab and antibiotics.

If it feels like there is drainage down your throat, from an infection, a decongestant can help.

If you have acid reflux, that can cause burning in your throat, and an acid reducer such as Zantac 150 mg can help.

If you think a foreign body might have lodged in a tonsil or your throat, go to the doctor to have it looked at and removed.

If the pain is getting worse, I advise you go in to an urgent care clinic now to see what is going on.

If it feels like swelling, it may be an allergic response to something - go in to be seen immediately.

I invite you to let me know how you are doing after you have gone in to be evaluated.

Never felt like this before. It's now swelling but like a knife stabbing in my throat. Low grade fever and I've had strep many times but never this fast coming on. Could this be from anxiety? Forcing myself to drink hot then try cold. Brings tears to my eyes every time I swallow.

Brief Answer:
Not anxiety

Detailed Answer:
No, a stabbing throat pain is not a typical symptom for anxiety.

I think you should go in to be seen to have that throat looked at and swabbed.

If you have a low grade fever, the pain is most likely from an infection rather than the other things I mentioned.

Thank you so much. Went in an it's strep. Never had it this sudden or severe without pus pockets an swollen tonsils! Guess age has alot to do with that.
Thanks again for your time and consideration. Maybe I will be better in a few days!

Brief Answer:
Glad you went in.

Detailed Answer:
I'm so glad you went in. There can be variables other than age when it comes to how quickly an infection sets in, including the particular strain of bacteria's ability to set up infection. Some are more virulent than others.

You should start feeling better in the next 48 hours on an antibiotic.

Thank you for the follow up.

Get plenty of rest and feel better soon!

I have a painful small corn on inside of little toe that curls under the toe next to it. I have seen 2 doctors and still have this ongoing. I've tried everything OTC. What is causing this to continue. Sometimes i can't even put on a sock. Has a burning feeling on the outside of the little toe.

Recommendation

Detailed Answer:
This may be out of my league but I think we have some foot doctors on this site (podiatrists). What I suggest is reposting the foot related question with "For Podiatrist Only" at the beginning of the first sentence. The moderator will flag it for a podiatrist and you should hear back tonight.

If you can post some pictures of it for them, that would help too. Use the "upload reports" button on the right side of the page to do this. If you are unable to upload this way, contact "report a problem" or "customer service" and they can upload it for you.

Sorry I don't think I can help on this one.
