Brief Answer:
Amlodepine needs adjustment.Investigations
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I went through your query and understood your concerns.
You are on multiple drugs and among them
amlodipine besylate10mg is known to cause swelling in legs (
pedal edema). For my patients because of this side effect I usually restrict for maximum 5 mg and then if BP is not controlled then will add another group of antihypertensive to it. Since pedal edema, a thiazide
diuretic may be helpful with reduction of amlodepine dose for both reduction of swelling and maintaining BP.
Since this is a prescription medicine, I would suggest you to meet the local Doctor to confirm the diagnosis and get drug and dose adjusted.
There are other conditions like renal or
liver or even cardiovascular problem to cause pedal edema. So better to get investigated for renal function test, liver function test,
lipid profile,
HbA1c and complete hemogram. This will help in identifying the cause if due to any systemic condition.
Mean time you keep your both legs in elevated position while resting, keep walking for small distance and avoid long journey or sitting for more hours without moving legs. A compression bandage will also help in reducing the oedema and pain.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards
