Brief Answer:
Muscular skeletal pain,take OTC acetaminophen

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the medical history of your mother and understood your concern.

Taking coumadin has nothing to do with upper back pain. This pain could be due to spondyloarthrosis that could be perfectly checked by upper back x-ray.

However, if I was her caring doctor, I advise to run further tests to rule out other organic problem like with gallbladder and/ or kidneys:
- abdominal ultrasound
- liver/kidney function tests
- urine analysis

For the moment, I advise to:
- apply warm compresses locally
- take acetaminophen in moderation to ease the pain

If no improvement or if it will get worse, should send her to ER.

All the best!
