What Causes Severe Pain In My Buttocks?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: i went to a meeting today for 4 hours. I sat on a padded chair but the pain in my buttocks became very painful. I can press on my tail bone and no pain. It seems more internal like bone seperation between butt cheeks. I am fine on thick cushions like a couch but hard surfaces are unbearable especially when getting up. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
You are having coccydynia

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You are likely to be having coccydynia. Its treatment is rest and hot seitz bath. In hot seitz bath it is advised to sit in a tub full of warm ( not hot) water for nearly 10 minutes in morning and evening. Analgesic such as ibuprofen is advised for pain relief .Long continuous sitting should be avoided. It is advised to use only soft seats for sitting. Hard surfaces are advised to be avoided for sitting. Vitamin B and C may help in recovery. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
