What Causes Severe Pain In Left Hip Joint And Breathing Difficulty?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jun 2016
Question: It's been quite some days now I have been undergoing severe pain in my left hip joint. Nearly a year back I started playing Badminton which (I suppose) triggered this problem. Since then, whenever I do any physical exercise or play any outdoor game the pain starts coming back.
In normal day-to-day activity also, while bending I feel a pinch/strain in my heel. Now the pain is spreading towards my chest and I am unable to sleep at night due to breathing difficulties.

I have consulted many ortho & physio specialists but with no XXXXXXX !
All of them prescribe me to take some muscle relaxer(pain killer) and do some physiotherapy as there is no abnormality found in X-ray reports.

Now I doubt this is because of any vein compression. My question is what should I do now ? Do I need to consult any Neuro or Spine specialist? or should I go for MRI scan ?

Brief Answer:
Neurological examination is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

Of course, with this clinical history-physical examination by a neurologist is needed to approach the diagnosis.MRI of Lumbo-sacral spine may be needed as well, however, neurological examination will further guide the investigations.

Some of these details may help to better answer your query-
1)Do you have painful restriction of movements at hip joints?
2)Do you have tingling/numbness in extremities?
3)Do you have any loss of sensations?
4)Do you have difficulty in passing urine?

I shall be glad to have you in follow-up with details so that I can answer this well, further.

Thank You Doctor,

Thanks for checking up on me. Please find my answers to your queries below. I have also attached the reports.

1)Do you have painful restriction of movements at hip joints?
Yes, I feel restriction during left hip movement. But, I doubt this pain is not due to the joints. It's may be due to muscle strain or vein compression in that area.
2)Do you have tingling/numbness in extremities?
no numbness in any extremities.
3)Do you have any loss of sensations?
No loss of sensations.
4)Do you have difficulty in passing urine?
No such complains.

kindly advise further.

Brief Answer:
Rheumatologist's consultation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.

I have gone through the detailed reports. It is worth mentioning that you indeed have a joint pathology(sacroiliitis) along with positive HLA B27 and severe vitamin D deficiency.

Your symptoms appear to be due to joint pathology. This is further supported by the above investigations. So,I suggest you to please visit a Rheumatologist in person. He is the ideal specialist to treat you.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.
