Posted on Wed, 6 Jan 2016
Question: Dear Sir,
My wife is 71. In 2007 her liver was damaged due to abscess After three months treatment She was totally cured Then she was totally physically fit. Even we could enjoy sex without any problem. In Nov. 2014 she had infection in vaginal tack. That too was cured Doctor advised to remove uterus for satty. She has no cancer. All test were also carried out for cancer. No cancer was found. Uterus is removed. I don't know if ovaries are removed. One year is over after removal of uterus. Now the problem is we con't enjoy sex. Penetration has become impossible. My wife experiences severe pain. At present I am using coconut oil to lubricate her vagina. will this be useful ? We had consulted the doctor who had operated her. He advised us to avoid sex. I think it is dryness of vagina. Can there be any other reason ?
Pl.guide us and suggest medicines, available in XXXXXXX market. Shall we be able to enjoy sex again ? Pl send complete details.
Pl.excuse me for giving you the troubles

Brief Answer:
Might be due to dryness, estrogen cream

Detailed Answer:

Welcome
I have gone through your query.
As estrogen levels fall as women approach and pass menopause, the resulting dryness and thinning of vaginal tissues can cause penetration and intercourse to be uncomfortable for many women.
sex without sufficient vaginal lubrication can lead to tearing and bleeding of vaginal tissues during sex.
I would suggest you to avoid sex for couple of days and during this time visit doctor for examination of her pelvis to see the presence of any infection or inflammation. On examination, if there is dryness, that can be addressed by the use of estrogen cream (Estrace, Neo- Estrone)

Beyond the immediate effects of the pain itself, pain during sex can trigger performance anxiety or future arousal problems, that is reason why the doctor might have asked you to avoid sex.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

We have consulted gynecologist who had operated for removal of uterus before nearly a month If there is infection or inflammation in pelvis, he would have told us and might have suggested some treatment. Instead of it, he suggested to avoid sex. why ? Is there no solution to this problem ? Is it due to old age of my wife ? According to scientific reports coconut oil is good moisturiser. what you say ? Last but not least, how long will it take to get rid of this problem if Estrogen cream is used ? can canesten-s tube or Canesten cream IP be helpful to cure pelvic infection or as a precautionary measure ? Can Canesten and Estrogen cream simultaneously be used to remove dryness and cure pelvic problem if exist?

Brief Answer:
Avoid sex for week, to avoid any future arousal problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
As mentioned earlier, they might have told to avoid sex, to reduce future arousal problem.
Estrogen cream will be helpful, duration depends on individual to individuals, it is useful if there is dryness.
Canestens contain antifungal agents, to comment on this requirement in your wife examination is must.
Yes coconut oil is good lubricant but if it is not helpful, you can try K Y jelly, it is lubricant which will be available in drug store.
Kindly consult your gynaecologist, and enquire, why they have asked you to avoid sex, is it due to dryness or there might be slight injury in vagina.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
