Brief Answer:
Abnormal position - possible nerve compression.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Possible nerve compression. Due to compression of nerves, specific to certain positions. This compression would stop nerve from sending nerve impulses and hence nerve area, would give a feeling of "falling asleep"
2. Once the position is changed, it would start recovering and during recovery you might feel tingling sensation.
3. However, if it not related to specific positions, possibility of peripheral neuropathy should be considered.
4. Association with diabetes mellitus or nutritional deficiency are common. Other areas, may have tingling or needles sensation.
5. Nutritional supplements like Vit B12, B6 along with alpha lipoic acid will helpful in conditions with peripheral neuropathy.

If its not related to any position or limb elevation, then nutritional supplements will be beneficial. If the period of numbness increases or it becomes painful, then neurologist examination will be essential.

Hope it helps.

Thank you.

With regards
