default
Posted on Wed, 26 Oct 2016
Question: I have rather severe neck pain mostly on the left side, when I get up in the morning. After an hour or so, the pain virtually goes away. I have a small cyst in the same area. Could that cause the pain?

Brief Answer:
The cyst causes pain when it gets infected.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it could be a Sebaceous cyst, a swelling which occurs in relation to hair follicle.
It gets infected and cause pain at the site.
Please consult your doctor, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
If there is no evidence of infection, then the pain could be of musculoskeletal cause.I prescribe skeletal muscle relaxant tablet containing Thiocochicoside twice daily to my patients with similar complaints.
You should not use pillows while sleeping.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
