What Causes Severe Itchiness In Palms And Feet When Diagnosed With Influenza?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 May 2016
Question: Was diagnosed with Influenza A two days ago. Symptoms emerged 3 days ago. Taking motrin alternating with Tylenol to control fever and aches. Feeling slightly better now, but developed very itchy palms and feet. I am a healthy 40 year old female non smoker, non drinker. Other than valley fever 8 years ago and gallbladder removal 2 years ago, I do not take any medications other than ocassional Motrin when needed. Why would my palms and feet become so itchy, that even scratching won't relieve?

Brief answer...would resolve in a day or two
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the fever.
I have read your query and understand your concern, however I would like to assure you that there is nothing unusual in it and would go away in 1-2 days.
Many a times our body reacts to viral infections by causing allergic or immunologic reactions. They are perfectly normal and generally go away in next 1-2 days.
In case itching is bothersome, you can take BENADRYL caps twice a day or alternatively you can take FEXOFENADINE 180 mg once a day for couple of days.
I hope it helps however, you are most welcome to revert to me or any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
