Brief Answer:
Quite usual in all cases of respiratory infections; a few suggestions

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and elcoe.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The road to recovery from bronchitis can be difficult, and almost always accompanied by lethargy and exhaustion mainly because all respiratory conditions can cause the individual to tire easily and get out of breath, reducing resistance to any form of physical activity.

In light of your exhaustion I would recommend the following:

+Drink plenty of fluids (especially warm liquids, soups, porridges, fruit juices, etc.)
+Speak to your doctor and initiate multivitamins that will provide you with nutrients your diet may be lacking
+Initiate an appetite-stimulant which will help you to eat better, as a poor appetite can easily result from any respiratory infection

I would request you to try and take as much rest as possible and avoid all activities that can either delay recovery or worsen your current symptoms (E.g. smoking, alcohol consumption, etc.)

Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

When you say avoiding activities that could delay recovery.
Im a full time college student. Classes are from 8 till 5. I've already missed three days of classes.
How long do you suggest i remain home

Brief Answer:
Ideally that duration would be 7-10 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Of course that is going to be difficult, but usually respiratory infections take time to subside mainly because the entire respiratory tract (especially the lung tissue) takes a long time to heal and/or recover. So ideally I advise my patients who have been confirmed to have bronchitis to rest and avoid physical activity (as it can easily tire them) for a week (at the least).

If you can manage to attain a medical certificate which will allow you to miss college and at the same time not have to face the repercussions, then this would be ideal. If not, then you will have to at least try and find another way out, as complete recovery is a mandate, without which you will either way not be as productive as you would want to be at college.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Hi sir.

Yes of course it is possible sir. Cold air can cause aggravation of the condition and make it worse, so please do try and avoid exposure to cold air.
