Brief Answer:
Losing keratin on the nails

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

At this age you should be losing keratin as layers on the nail. Keratin will give the strength and shape to the nails. Because of various reasons the keratin is lost. too much exposure to water, chemicals, iron and biotin deficiency, nail biting, fungal infection and psoriasis are common causing thinning and breaking of nails.

You should get a test done to understand the cause. You should meet a dermatologist to check if there are any treatable causes for the problem. Few are untreatable.

Get the nail under microscope if there is any fungal infection and treat it.
