What Causes Requirement Of Pain Management When Diagnosed With Acute Pancreatitis?

default
Posted on Tue, 15 Dec 2015
Question: I have acute pancreatitis and I do not drink and I do not have any blockage in my gall bladder. This is the first time this happened. I am a healthy 47 year old woman. I was drinking some herbal tea given to me by a holistic doctor but I only had three cups. I was in the hospital for three days and was only given pain medication. Everyone is baffled. Any thoughts of the cause or how to prevent this. Also they did an ultrasound and my kidneys liver and gall bladder looked great. No high sugar or chlosterol.

Brief Answer:
There are many possible causes of pancreatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Pancreatitis is in 90% of cases caused by gallbladder stones or alcohol drinking.
It includes even small stones in common biliary duct which could have been passed into intestines soon after pancreatitis attack. so stones may not be seen in gallbladder. Other less common causes include variety of disorders such as hypetrigliciridemia, hypeglicemia, high calcium levels, certain medications, viral infections, autoimmune reactions, trauma and some other. Many of these are never discovered as a cause for certain pancreatitis attack. In your case it seemed to be easy attack and you should just avoid alcohol, fats and fried food for several weeks. Wish you good health. Regards
