What Causes Redness On Penile Head After Protected Intercourse?

default
Posted on Thu, 18 Feb 2016
Question: I had sex with someone last night while wearing a condom and today I noticed a slight redness on the head of my penis, plus some mild burning. It's not painful but I can definitely feel a slight burning/tingling sensation down there. I used a condom but is it possible I have an STD? I don't have any other symptoms (yet). There are no clinics near me that are currently open, but I wanted to find out if my symptoms are consistent with any particular STD

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible allergy to the material of the condom.
You might try some anti allergy medicines in this respect.
If that doesn't help in 2 to 3 days then we will have to consider STIs.
The following tests would be needed.
VDRL
HIV
Beyond that, we will have to wait and watch.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal
