Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: Hello. I have attached a photo of my neck showing red spots. I assume from ingrown hairs? I have been struggling with this awful looking neck for years now and I've tried many things which don't seem to work. Could you please help?

Hello. I have a lump inside my belly button for many years. But it is concerning me for cosmetic reasons. A few years ago a general practitioner tried to freeze it off but that didn't work. What are my options? Can I remove it myself somehow?

Brief Answer:
Wart and pseudofolliculitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.

The pus filled lesions in your neck region are due to ingrown hairs.
It's called as pseudofolliculitis barbae.

When you shave hair the sharp cut end pierces skin and causes damage to skin leading to pus formation.

I treat such cases with a mild steroid cream like Cortisone to be applied twice daily for a week.
You must use trimmer to clean your beard instead of shaving them, that is the only permanent solution.

The photograph of your belly button is showing a single wart.
It's a viral infection.

It needs to be removed with the help of radiofrequency ablator.
Please meet a dermatologist and get it removed.

It cannot be removed on your own.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
