default
Posted on Thu, 30 Apr 2015
Question: I have a red, itchy rash on the outside of my neck (throat area) about three inches by five inches. There is also a small patch in front of my ear on the cheek. It started two days ago and is spreading. What is it and what should I use to treat it?

Brief Answer:
It could be atopic dermatitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

It could be Atopic dermatitis, or Contact dermatitis.

There is need for a picture or better an eye sight by a Dermatologist to definitely diagnose the rash.

Besides Benadryl cream you can use topical corticosteroids cream (Beclomethasone eg.) in order to reduce itching and rash.

If the rash continues spreading you should consult with your primary care Doctor.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
