Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for posting on Healthcare Magic.

I appreciate your concern regarding the chronic skin condition your are suffering from and i will make sure your query is solved in a best possible way.

From your history and clinical photographs, it seems clear that your suffering from Biphasic or Lichen Amyloidosis.

Amyloidosis is a condition where abnormal proteins deposit in various tissues of the body. Lichen amyloidosis/ Biphasic amyloidosis is a type of amyloidosis where proteins deposit in the skin with no involvement of other organs.

The diagnosis usually done on clinical basis but still for confirmation one needs to take skin biopsy for histological examination.

The prognosis is good because there is no involvement of other body organs.

Usually i treat my patients of lichen amyloidosis with multi-modality treatment.
For clinic based treatment, i suggest dermabrasion i.e removing upper layers of skin via an instrument called dermabrader. Alternatively, laser therapy (Co2 laser) can be used or chemical cauterization with concentrated phenol or Trichloracetic acid can be done. Some patients also respond to UVB therapy.

For home-based treatment i prescribe creams containing potent steroids like clobetasol and salicyclic acid. Additionally, Urea containing creams can be added for further improvement.

Though the lesions will take few months to subside but if the treatment is carried out in a right way, i am sure you will get wonderful results with the treatment protocol i suggested.

Hope your queries are resolved and wish you best of health.
