What Causes Purple Spots On Penis?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Feb 2016
Question: Hello I've had a reddish/ purple spot on the rim of my penis a few years now, but recently it has started to ache and it seems like it's right under the spot but I'm not sure? I was just recently tested for all STDs and they all came back negative. I just really want to figure out what this is!

Hello
Thanks for the query.
You might have developed fordyce spots.
These are enlarged sebaceous glands and are normal.
Can you please upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Waiting for your response.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the photographs.
I would like to know the following details.
1. Is this redness constant since past few years or is it increasing?
2. Does it disappear and reappears after friction like sex or masturbation or it remains same red ?
3. Are you taking medication for any other illness ?
Please answer the above.
Thank you

It has been pretty consistent, if it has it has been so gradual that I haven't even noticed.

It also stays the same for the most part all the time, maybe slightly more irritated after sex. But sometimes It does almost look a little like a bruise on the far right hand side but I only noticed that after new years along with a little ache.

I have not been taking any medication for anything.

Probably it's contact dermatitis.
