Question: I am on Metoprolol 50 mg for bp and high heart rate for almost a month. It worked well at first, but for 2 days, my bp and heart rate has been up a little.

Is it possible that my body has gotten use to the 50 mg and i need to be adjusted on medication?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry as of now

Detailed Answer:
Hi There

I have gone through the medical details provided by you and I understand your concern.

Here I would like to tell you that control of blood pressure always consists of two important aspects : medication and lifestyle modifications.

Medicine you are already taking which is helping also. So you need to follow healthy lifestyle habits also which includes :
1. Daily brisk morning walk for 45 mins a day for 5 days a week
2. Low dietary salt intake
3. Include good amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in daily diet
4. Stop smoking completely if you do

Follow these instructions in your daily life regularly and hopefully after few months you need not take bp meds also as you are young.

I hope this information will be of help. If you have any doubt you can ask me back or else you can close the discussion and kindly rate the answer.

I wish you good health

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

As it's just been a month that you are having the medicine so it's not like that. It take year to develop that resistance. Take care of your diet and follow the things which I have advised and you will be all good.
