Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The most common reason for acute onset of diarrhea is an infection. This can be viral or bacterial and usually lasts 7 to 10 days. If it is an infection then the immodium may be keeping the virus or bacteria in the system.
IN many cases, most persons would say to let the system flush itself out unless in a circumstance where cannot make it to the bathroom eg work

Other aspects of treatment include-- (1)holding off solid food till there is a 4 hour window with no symptoms. Use liquids to replace fluid and electrolytes

The intestines cannot absorb the food and it can delay healing. When restarting food use a small amount of dry foods

(2)probiotics can also help

Other causes of diarrhea including--(1)food allergy or intolerance
(2)irritable bowel syndrome
(3)thyroid disease, diabetes
(4)inflammatory bowel disease
(5)side effect of medication

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
