What Causes Painless Bony Swelling Above Last Tooth?

Question: I just noticed a hard, bony like growth on the right maxilla above where my last tooth is located. No pain. Not sure when this appeared as i don't often put my hand there..although i floss every day but i don't go that high. I have a picture.

Brief Answer: A CT Scan will put more light Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for the query. The reasons for painless bony swelling can be many, but a cyst in relation to the root of molar is common. Other possibilities include some pathology primary to bone like a osteoma, fibrous dysplasia and growth in relation to maxill - malignant or benign. A CT scan of para nasal sinuses will put more light on this and if need be biopsy will be required. Please see an ENT and a complete evaluation will be required. Feel free to ask another query.
