What Causes Painful Lump On The Palate?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 Jun 2014
Question: Could I have cancer? I've had a painful lump on my palate on the fleshy bit at the back for about a week now with a little red patch on it, which got bigger but has now gone down but if I put my tounge where it was I can still feel a lump it just feels like it's moved up into my head. Around the same time my left tonsil started hurting and became a little swollen, felt like I had a lump in my throat when I swallowed. And hurt the lump on my palate when I swallowed. Bad breath all of a sudden saliva smells funny. Ear ache in left ear Vision in left eye sometimes blurry and pain behind it . After a week it has now spread to my other tonsil and bad earache in right ear but still pain in other. Just noticed I have a lump behind my tonsil on the fleshy arch. Been feeling random sickness / dizziness. Random shooting pains all over body at different times, left side of chest and arm, stomach, thighs finger tips ankles wrists. A few days Before the mouth lump came my boobs felt badly bruised very painful that since stopped and now it's my lower ribs that feel bruised. Slight head aches. Also been feeling for months now when I'm in bed and even slightly have my arm or leg raised while sleeping it feels as though my bloods not going through my veins properly like a dull ache and then stops when I lay my arm straight by my side

It's called Quinsy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Thanks for the query. The symptoms you have described are classical of a bacterial infection involving the tonsils with provable abscess formation. This condition is called quinsy. I suggest that you consult an ENT surgeon immediately. You will also require antibiotics.
