Question: Hi, This is XXXXXXX I've had a stomach ache the last couple of days. It feels like a ball in between my ribs cage. I've tried pepto ,milk of magnesia. I know I've been diagnosed with a ulcer and irritable syndrome. I did do a enema last night about ten and felt pretty good and now it's staring back up again.I do take Sucralfate tablets 1gram four times a day and 40mg of Pantoprazole. I also have chronic pain and take Fentanyl 75 mcg 1 patch every three days and four oxycodone a day.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. History od IBS and gastric ulcer is the cause of all your pain and use of opioids for painkilling slowing biwel further causing these recent flares you are having.
I would like you to replace painkillers with tylenol or advil and and continue ulcer medications both sucralfate as well as pantoprazole. Also you should modify diet and lifestyle for relief. Lose weight if a problem, eat small frequent meals, avoid spices , stimulants , cola , beverages, alcohol, soda, fatty foods, processed and canned foods. Prefer more fiber and fluids in diet. Ise yogurt and peppermint as former is good probiotic and later is good natural antispasmodic.
I hope these will help.Take good care of yourslef and dont forget to close the discussion please

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX I had forgotten to tell you that I've been sucking on hard peppermint candies and taking probiotics but I'm still having a hard time getting it to calm down. I've put a heating pad on and on. Is there anything I can do to get it to calm down right now. Also been eating some yogurt. Thanks so much for your time Sir.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

As i mentioned earlier, peppermint yogurt alone wont help. Take the opioid painkillers out, modify diet, modify lifestyle, do as directed in above answer and then see , the symptoms will resolve. Its an IBS flare triggered by opioid painkiller medicine and likely due to diet lifestyle changes.

Talk to your doctor and see if it helps .
Take care XXXXXXX
