What Causes Pain In Right Eye Despite Suffering From Macular Degeneration?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Jan 2015
Question: I have macular degeneration in my right eye. Recently I have been experiencing pain in that eye - not intense or anything like that. However, earlier tonight I started getting intermittent sharp pain in my right temple. Is this related to the macular degeneration? If, not what could it be?

Brief Answer:
Not realted with macular degeneration.

Detailed Answer:

With your age it appears that you have got age related macular degeneration and the symptoms are always effecting vision. No pain indicates macular degeneration.

You have not given detail of whether it is wet or dry type and treatment you have received must be knowing prognosis is bad and treatment option are limited.

Injection of anti angiogenic drug to vitreous, antioxidant, omega 6 and laser application:You must have received some of this treatment. So pain is not indicated as symptom. This may be some other ailment. To me may be you are having ocular migraine.

You should take migranil tablet after consulting your Doctor, to start one tablet and increase up to 6 tablets till symptoms subsides.
This regime of treatment should give you relief.

Consultation with retina specialist with advice of treatment is another option.

I am already being treated for the macular degeneration - which is wet - with monthly injections. As my question was not answered to my satisfaction, perhaps I chose the wrong specialist, and will chose another.

Thank you for your time
